Gardener´s Paradise: England

Time and time again, visitors are amazed by the island with its garden treasures and great plants!

We were in Kew Royal Botanic Gardens in London and were impressed by the old giant trees. The Treetop Walkway at a height of 18 meters curves its way through the tree crowns of castanea sativa, fagus sylvatica, aesculus hippocastanum and quercus palustris. The lofty heights mean that the trees’ ability to transport the water to their tips even more breathtaking

Gunnera manicata shows us exactly what true leaf greatness really is!

Persham Nursery is a market for plants and also a restaurant and café. This is London, too. Who wouldn’t become a gardener in this magic atmosphere?

The neighbourhoods Chelsea and Belgravia are especially well decorated during the annual Chelsea Flower Show. Almost all shop windows are decorated – the flowers and trees grow out of the windows right down to the pavement. These are real works of art, yet they only “grow” for one week. We stroll under palm trees to giraffes and cheetahs and sit under buxus beeches. 🙂

Another highlight of our tour: Chelsea Flower Show! Every year, the most beautiful show gardens are planned and built to high perfection in Chelsea for one week. In the middle of the exhibition area we find the market hall with the specialists: 1000 different Hosta species, diverse cacti with shrill flower colours; chrysanthemums as giant muffins or a large selection of ferns.

The outside gardens are colourful: Manoj Malde designs a colourful and great garden which makes us feel as if we were in Mexico; Kate Gould brings the well thought out city garden to the show and Ishihara Kazuyuki Design Laboratory from Tokyo brings Japan to the show – absolutely fantastic!

Before our flight, a quick visit to the Queen: It is more exciting to walk along the Long Walk (3.5 miles long) straight behind Windsor Castle than the path’s route would have you think!
