The Lime Avenue

For a long time there was just a sandy path leading to a farm in Lower Saxony. The client wanted to plant a generous avenue there; one which would integrate itself into the existing complex as a matter of course.

For this project, we found 18 large Emperor Limes: Tilia europaea `Pallida ´ 300-400 x 700-900 cm, trunk circumference 60-70cm. In January 2014 the trees that we had selected personally were delivered and positioned together with the landscape architect, Claudia Schaaf, in accordance with the client’s wishes.

The thorough preparation of the site, appropriate trunk protection and a correctly dimensioned rim for watering create optimum starting conditions. This summer the trees appeared in full foliage and presented themselves beautifully.

Using underground anchoring, it looks like the trees have been growing there for years.

Together with the gardening company, Ingo Beran, we created an impressive avenue. The gold yellow autumn colours will be seen from a great distance away in a few weeks’ time!
